Support H.R. 5144​ - Help Bring Federal Recognition to the Cheroenhaka (Nottoway) Indian Tribe

​​H.R. 5144 is federal legislation seeking formal recognition of the Cheroenhaka (Nottoway) Indian Tribe of Southhampton County, Virginia.

​

Federal recognition affirms Tribal sovereignty, protects cultural identity, and acknowledges the inherent rights of Native Nations.

​

Current Status

​

H.R. 5144 is before the U.S. House Committee on Natural Resources, which has 45 Members. A formal letter of support has already been mailed to six key Members of the Committee.

Supporters are requested to mail six (6) copies of the official support letter - one to each key Committee Member.
