The origins of the Fighting Illini athletics can be traced to the stadium era campaign. War veterans and the Native Illini tribes were central to the identity of Fighting Illini athletics.
What we're doing
We're communicating the 90% Native American opinion that Natives have no problem with Native names and imagery and we are advocating with NCAA and University of Illinois decision makers, politicians, donors, media and sponsors for reclaiming a Native connection to the University of Illinois athletics.
